“Musto’s music overflows with dancing energy, nifty musical turns, and … wistful lyricism that erupts at unpredictable intervals unto playful outbursts of balletic merriment.”
AMERICAN RECORD GUIDE

“Music from Copland House is all exuberance and bright sunshine … illuminating essential truths about the music.”
THE NEW YORK TIMES

Please join us for an exhilarating tour of composer John Musto’s kinetic musical world. The award-winning, Graduate Center professor’s work ranges across a vibrant urban landscape animated by a brash energy, languid, nocturnal poetry, and stylish, sophisticated allure. His fast-paced, eventful Piano Trio of 1998 shuttles between two extremes of character, mood, and texture. Long-lined, fervent melodies break out into dazzling, virtuoso riffs, while expressionist soliloquies may unexpectedly become sultry cabaret melodies. The musical action is non-stop, the delights constant. This free, 45-minute program also includes a brief introductory conversation between the composer and Copland House Artistic and Executive Director Michael Boriskin, as well as a post-performance, live Q&A between them and viewers.

Featured Music from Copland House artists: violinist Curtis Macomber, cellist Thomas Kraines, and pianist Michael Boriskin.
